Illegal Street Stalls Cleared along Jalan Senen Raya IV

Joint personnel swept through Jalan Senen Raya IV on Wednesday (9/23), clearing dozens of illegal street vendor setups and online motorcycle taxi waiting spots right opposite the Oasis Apartments in Senen, Central Jakarta.

Dozens of personnel—including Satpol PP, Transportation Sub-agency, Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat), PPSU, neighborhood heads, and joint police-military personnel—were mobilized for the crackdown.

Senen Urban Village Head Ilyan Adi Bayu explained that authority action became necessary after informal vendors and ride-hailing hubs commandeered sidewalks and road margins, leaving the area in disarray.

"These illegal setups turned the entire stretch of Jalan Raya Senen IV into an eyesore and caused widespread littering, prompting today's sweep," he expressed.

Dozens of vendor carts and structures were hauled off to the Satpol PP depot in Cakung during the raid, though sellers were allowed to keep their merchandise.

"We're working closely with Central Jakarta Satpol PP to slap repeat violators with minor criminal sanctions if they attempt to set up shop along Jalan Senen Raya IV again," he added.

He had repeatedly warned vendors not to set up shop along the street, but the warnings fell on deaf ears.

"Because they turned a blind eye to our notices, we took firm action today," he emphasized.

Then, Satpol PP personnel will maintain monitoring along the corridor to prevent vendors from reclaiming the sidewalks and road margins.

"PPSU will also step in to clean up the entire stretch, restoring its beauty and greenery," he stated.
